Hi Everyone,
Well I can’t believe another week has raced by so fast and it’s club night tomorrow already! I hope you have had a good week. I had a lovely weekend away in Oxfordshire and a trip to Blenheim Palace where the sunshine and orangey autumnal light was sublime. I managed to get a couple of nice portraits of Noah -not for competition- but great for the album.
Anyhoo, lots of things to tell you about this week so best get on with it.
- Many of you probably aren’t aware but we do have some equipment (owned by the club) available for hire by members: we have a set of DVDs about HDR, we have the Spyder (for screen calibration) and a set of studio lights. All we ask is you make a small donation to club funds
- The Bishops Stortford Calendar containing images provided by our members, is available to buy at tourist information centre in town, they are £7. If your image is in it don’t forget to collect your free copy from Andrew
- The first -of hopefully many- Studio club sessions is coming up in a few weeks, Saturday 16th November. Please make sure you confirm your place or put your name down for any spare places, Brian is organising this. The day will be divided into two sessions and the cost of hire will be divided between all taking part. This will be approximately £18 per person
- From time to time we enter into competitions against other clubs. We have a selection committee who task it is to choose the images which will represent the club. In order for us to improve communication amongst members, after each competition the selection committee will produce a list of images which have been short listed. If your image gets picked from this short list to represent the club in an external competiton you will be notified. If for any reason you don’t wish you image to be considered please let us know. I have attached the list of those selected from the first round of the digital.
- If anyone fancies taking me up on my offer of a club drink/bite to eat Friday night let me know and I can tell you time and place etc
Finally there are loads of way to stay in touch with each other in between meetings. The Facebook group has been very active this week with members setting each other exercises to do and tips n hints being swapped. Don’t forget to also sign up to Flickr to get your pictures aired n shared. Finally we also have the twitter page for keeping up with local events and news etc that may be of interest.
So see you all on Tuesday, 7.45 for 8.00 start. It’s the first round of the colour prints and the first round of the monochrome prints. We have a great judge lined up so don’t miss it.
