Emma expounds 2013-09-08

Emma EvansHi Everyone,

Hope you are all enjoying your weekend, I’m writing to you from my sick bed, ok thats a bit of an over dramatisation…I’ve got a stinking cold and I’ve lost my voice. “OI, no cheering at the back”. Hopefully I will be better for Tuesday. At least it gives me an excuse to sit here watching the Grand Prix.

Anyhoo, onto BSCC business; it’s so nice that the winter program has begun. It feels good to be getting back into the swing of things. I really enjoyed the first night back and I especially enjoyed Marks Flickr talk. I am really looking at it in a different way now. I went straight home and signed up and uploaded all my favourite images. I am my own harshest critic, but after looking at my ‘photostream’ (see: learning the lingo) I am actually proud of my body of work. I can also see how far my photography has progressed since being at the club. So, if you haven’t joined Flickr yet, sign up. (And if you want a nosey at my pics: )

So, first things first, photo of the month; it goes to Brian’s Lighthouse image

Undeniably a fantastic image and well worthy of POTM. It will be displayed for the next month in the window of Photosound. If you want your image to be there, make sure you upload it to the BSCC Flickr group page or the Facebook page within the next few weeks.

So Tuesday night, 7.45 for 8pm start as usual. We will be showing the EAF exhibition. It’s a chance to see the best of the best from the region: the kind of photos we can aspire to. The club is represented this year by a few members, so congratulations to them. We have some really great talent in the club this year and I’m confident it won’t be long before we are getting even more images into the exhibition.

Brian will be collecting subs and handing out membership cards on Tuesday evening and I will be on hand during the tea break if anyone has any questions regarding competitions or the club in general.

Finally, as most of you know we lost one of our long-standing members over the summer. John Godfrey was a great nature photographer and he will be sadly missed by many. As a tribute we are showing a selection of his prints which will be on display the entire evening.

See you all on Tuesday.

Emma x

P.S. Don’t forget to sign up for the Tea rota. 😉
