Well hello everyone and happy Sunday,
First up may I wish you all a belated Happy New Year. I hope you are looking forward to the second half of the season as much as I am! There are lots of things to look forward to: the concluding rounds of all the competitions, more lectures and, of course, our annual weekend away (more about that later) and much more.
Ok, to business: seeing as this is the first update of the new year I have a lot to cover!
We had a request from a few members that they would like to purchase a club sweatshirt/fleece. You ask, we deliver! Therefore I am pleased to tell you that I am taking orders for Sweatshirts and Zip up Fleeces. They will have the club logo embroidered on the front (with the added option of adding further text if you wish – e.g. Glyn Dewis stylee ‘PHOTOGRAPHER’ across the back.) The prices are £12.99 for the sweatshirt and £16.00 for the zip up fleece. They are available in Navy, Black or Grey.
This week sees the third round of the digitally projected image competition. Come along, whether you have images in or not. It’s always a cracking night and it’s nice to see that those new members who joined us part way through the season are submitting images too.
The photo of the month competition continues and I’m pleased to announce that the winner this month is Jonathon Saul, with his cracking image, ‘Robin on Christmas Day’. You can view the image here:
The 8th of February sees the second meeting of the BSCC studio club. This was the brainchild of Brian and the first one was a great success. Basically we hire the studios at Menor and the cost is divided between all attendees. Everyone gets plenty of time to use the lights etc. The next session is already full, so if you are interested in this in the future please speak to Brian so you don’t miss out next time.
It’s that time of year again when I’m starting to think of the weekend away. I need to start getting an ideas of numbers. So if you would like to come/want to know more information please get in contact. This year we are going to the Isle of Wight. We will be staying at: The Bembridge Coast Hotel. I will have a rough estimate of cost on Tuesday, which will include 3 nights, with dinner, bed and breakfast. You will need to factor in the cost of the ferry too.
A quick date for your diaries: Saturday 15th March will be the annual BSCC fundraising quiz night. Its always a fun evening and raises much needed funds for the club. Its only £8.00 per ticket and includes a ploughman’s supper.
In other news we’ve had appeal from Derek Hinge (Rev at St Michaels church) who asked if any club members know of any companies who are able to convert a sizeable collection of slides to DVD for a reasonable price.
Finally, a huge well done to Andrew for putting together the calendar for the Tourist Information Centre, as well to all of those who had images in it. The big news is IT’S SOLD OUT! So, get snapping and get some images in and around the town throughout the coming seasons and you could be in next year’s sell-out calendar! Who knows, it could be BSCC giving One Direction a run for their money next Christmas. lol
